Da Enzo al 29
Our cuisine
Roman cuisine is made with just a few ingredients and recipes passed down more by word of mouth than on paper. It is honest, flavourful cooking that has no need for complications.
In Rome, we eat to enjoy life.
At Da Enzo al 29, we try every day to keep this approach to cooking alive. Our dining room is small and our menu is simple. We use only ingredients we know and that come directly from our family farm.
We want everyone who sits at our tables to experience the aroma of old Rome: lively tables, shared dishes and generous toasts. Honest Roman cuisine, deeply connected to its roots and unafraid to remain simple.

THE STORY OF A LEGEND
Who is Enzo?
When our guests ask us who Enzo is, we show them his portrait hanging on one of the walls. Enzo was the previous owner of the trattoria and passed away in the late 1980s. Our family purchased his restaurant after his death.
But Enzo’s presence can still be strongly felt. He lives on in the memories of the guests who visited the trattoria when he ran it and in the recipes we serve at our tables every day. Everyone remembers him fondly, and we like to imagine him walking among the tables, playful, loud and sharp-witted, back when the trattoria was the perfect place to drink, eat, meet friends and socialise.
Everyone describes Enzo as a kind and generous host. If he is watching us from above, we hope he is happy to see that his osteria has remained almost unchanged from decades ago.
ospitality
Locanda da Enzo al 29
Above the trattoria, in the heart of Trastevere, is Locanda da Enzo: a small guesthouse with three rooms, created within a historic building and renovated with meticulous attention to detail. Comfortable beds, practical bathrooms and a charming inner courtyard where guests can enjoy breakfast.
Staying here means having the restaurant literally just downstairs: head down for breakfast, explore Rome on foot and, in the evening, take just a few steps to enjoy dinner at Da Enzo. A small number of rooms, warm and personal hospitality, and the pleasure of staying in one of the city’s most charming neighbourhoods.
The family farm
Le terre di Enzo
Le Terre di Enzo is our family farm, located in the hills of Belmonte in Sabina, in the province of Rieti. Here we grow seasonal fruit and vegetables, raise hens and other farmyard animals, following the natural rhythms of the countryside and treating the land with respect.
Every day, fresh vegetables, extra virgin olive oil, eggs, pulses and selected meats arrive at the trattoria from our fields and are used in the dishes on our menu. A short and carefully controlled supply chain allows us to know exactly where everything we serve comes from and to preserve the simple, authentic flavours of our dishes.
